Grandpa's Spaghetti Sauce
"Quite a bit so you have some for tomorrow"-Grandpa

submitted by: Merrill Fife
serves: 12+

Ingredients:
3 large leeks, sliced
2 zucchini (green and yellow), sliced
1/2 cup butter (1 cube)
4 large tomatoes (or 6 medium), sliced
6 cloves of garlic, mashed
1/4 cup olive oil
1 can olives
24 oz. bottled Spaghetti Sauce (Prego w/mushrooms)
2 packages mushrooms
1 lb. hamburger
2 tablespoons Montreal Steak Seasoning

Directions:

  1. In a frying pan, cook leeks, garlic and butter. Cook on low heat until the leeks are transparent. Caramelize leeks until brown.
  2. Add mushrooms until sauted. Place all in a large saucepan.
  3. In a frying pan, brown hamburger, season with Steak Seasoning.
  4. Add olives, zucchini, tomatoes, and bottled sauce to saucepan and generously season with Steak Seasoning (about 1 tablespoon). "But not if Grandma's coming, it's too much salt for her."
  5. Add hamburger to sauce and cook on low until it simmers, and zucchini is cooked.
  6. Serve over your favorite noodles, also great over spaghetti squash.

Grandpa says "It can be frozen and re-heated. It is even better the second day!"
