Cheese Bread
"A Nielson kid favorite adopted from Cheri LaRue."

serves: 12-14, two smaller loaves

Ingredients:
2 cups warm water
2 packages of yeast
3/4 cup dry or powdered milk
1/4 c sugar
2 teaspoons salt
7-8 cups flour
1/4 cup shortening
3 eggs, beaten
2 teaspoons pepper
2 cups graded Cheddar cheese
1 egg yoke and 2 tablespoons water (for browning top)

Directions:
Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add remaining 1 1/2 cup water. Add milk, sugar, salt and 3 cups flour. Mix until smooth. Add shortening, eggs, pepper and remaining flour. Mix until blended. Add Cheese, best to mix in cheese by hand. Let rise until dough doubles. Shape into two loafs. Let rise another 40 min. Brush loafs with egg yoke and water.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min then turn down to 325 degrees for 20 more min.
